There are many students in Valparaiso who receive free or reduced breakfasts and lunches during the school week, but on the weekends, there’s no guarantee that these students are going to get the meals they need. Valparaiso Community Schools has an awesome program in place in which they provide bags of food to these students to help them through the weekend. With the strain on the economy and more families losing the income they depend on to survive, the school system is in need of more items to fill these bags.
We have offered to assist them in collecting food for these families. We are collecting the items below on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3 p.m. at Entrance 2 of VNC (the main entrance on the east side of the building). One thing we want to be clear about is that we want you to be safe! We are not asking you to rush out to the grocery store right now and stock up on these items, but if you are already planning to go out to shop for yourself, please consider picking up a few of the items below. Pastor Eric will be at Entrance 2 to collect the items, and he will give you instructions on how we can safely transfer items while maintaining social distancing. We need your help, but we also want you to be wise and stay safe while helping!
